Open and Creative Commons Licenses

Overview/Purpose

In this section, you will learn about what an open license is, as well as creative commons licenses. You will explore the difference between an open license and all rights reserved copyright and why this information is important to know in the age of the internet. You will also delve into what the four key license elements are and what the six creative common licenses are. This information is important to know as you begin to search and use OER for your courses. The different licenses can be restrictive, for example, one only allows you to download the works and share if you credit the original producer. In this module, you will also learn how to release your work with a Creative Commons license.

It will take approximately 24 minutes to complete depending how many of the resources you use via the links provided.
