Policies Related to Instruction

College policies help bring consistency and guidance to instructors and, in turn, to our students. The goal of having policies is to bring clarity and sometimes resolution to situations that arise. Here are some of the more commonly referred to instructional policies.

Academic Policies

Incident Report

Document student and staff injuries, suspicious students, and student conduct violations. It’s now federal law that sexual assault, domestic violence and stalking be reported (victim can remain anonymous). Incident Report Form

Student Conduct

In the classroom and in all aspects of college life, our goal is to provide the best opportunity for student success for all. The College will take action to prevent and stop any negative behavior that inhibits learning. Learn more in Western’s Student Handbook (PDF).

Privacy/FERPA

Students have certain rights under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) concerning their school records. Visit Western’s FERPA Training.

Open Hour Schedule

The college tries to keep two hours free of classes so faculty, staff and students can have regular open hours.
