Q3 - What did you like about this program?
Different varieties about dairy
That we got to pick where we wanted to work and what we wanted to do. It was nice that it was paid because a
lot of internships aren't.
I enjoyed the positive education experience. the teachers seemed very excited to pass on their knowledge and
educate young people in agriculture.
I liked the hands on learning environment.
What I liked about this program is that it was a two year agribusiness program instead of a four year. The two year
schedule better fit into my life plan and worked out well for me. Another thing I enjoyed about the program was
the amount of field trips that we went on and attended. The trips helped us understand what it was like in the
agriculture industry.
Learning about the crops and deficiencies of each nutrient. I liked that it was hands on versus having a bunch of
lectures. I liked having the trips during our ag equipment class to learn about things on the farm
I liked a lot of things that were in this program. I liked most of the classes that we had to take. It was all interesting
to me and applied well to what I am doing in my internship. I also liked that these classes were hands on. I learn a
lot better working that way.
I liked when the program was hands on such as when we went on the farm and practiced breeding cows and
when we toured different facilities for ag equipment.
the hands on work
It kept us busy in the daytime
different variety
All the different aspects and learning opportunities there are. Have gotten a much better understanding of the
males reproduction system and how it functions

Q4 - What would you change about this program?
Focus on other animals and just not dairy
I didn't like that we had to meet with our instructor because it was hard to find times to meet and talk.
I would gear it toward more relevant topics such as, crop nutrition and marketing. more management scenarios
and succession plans
Put a few more classes in on the business side of it.
One thing I would change about the program would be the general classes that we had to take. I would have liked
if they were embedded into the course as ag classes so it would better fit with our plans in life.
I wouldn't change much because I thought I learned a lot from this program. I also learned just as much when I
was out in the field working. Looking at things in the fields make it easier to identify problems instead of looking
at pictures
I think the only thing I would change would be some of the generals. Some of them felt like there was nothing to
do with this program like sociology, psychology, and critical thinking.
Some of the information we learned was not applicable in the real world.

The teacher
Talk more about different variety of stuff
That I could stay longer, but that is my own doing since I took a job opportunity that will shorten my time

Q7 - Provide any comments you have on effective communication skills you learned.
I have learned how to talk and approach business peers in an efficient and polite manner
none
I have effectively learned to communicate through the trips we went on and through the people we had come in
and speak. I was better able to ask questions and comment on how they presented.
Each day at my job, I have to talk to different farmers like getting shown which fields I have to spread.
Communication skills have helped me with that.
I feel more confident in talking with people who come into the Cooperative because of speech class and things I
learned in the ag classes.
I am able to effectively communicate in my current job.
Soil Erosion Plants Crops
Have to ask questions when something comes up that you don't understand. Even the smallest mistake can mess
up an order, such as contamination, or the wrong amount of extender to semen

Q9 - Provide any comments you have on mathematical concepts you learned.
I can now balance a ration and fertilizer
none
I think that the math concepts would have been better if they were taught in the ag classes instead of having
general math courses. It would definitely help in the field.
When spraying, you need to be able to calculate each amount of chemical needed for the load, learning this in our
pesticide class and ag equipment class has helped me with that
I already knew most of the stuff we covered in the actual math class but I did learn a bit more in the ag related
math stuff.
Math with business applications was a helpful course.
I use simple math concepts all the time, especially with my research project. Everything with the semen is based
on mathematical data

I have no comments.
Didn't really help in what I am doing today.
I have been learning more about the anatomy of the sperm cell, and why we do the things we do and use (such as
the chemistry behind the extenders and semen)

Q13 - Provide any comments you have on critical thinking skills you learned.
We learned how to prioritize
This program has taught me to be a little more creative in what I do everyday. Think outside the box.
I already knew how to think critically from my home farm.
Some projects were useful in gaining critical thinking skills
How to work on my feet when something is wrong.
A lot of information is thrown at you at once. You have to use the exact same process for every semen sample,
and make a decision if something happens, such as spillage, your thoughts on motility, etc.

none
For spreading fertilizer or spraying, we use a GPS. Technology is always evolving in the farming industry.
I learned some useful technology skills.
Learned basic data entry, not the set up of how things are calculated on the computer

Q17 - Provide any comments you have on what you learned about valuing yourself and
working ethically with others in a diverse population.
I have learned to value others opinions and inputs
This program taught me to work well with others even if I didn't get along with them.
At the work place, there are many different personalities to deal with.
Very interesting to hear past stories of interns. I have learned that I have a really good work ethic, and that is very
appreciated at Accelerated. Also a fairly diverse group of people, and have learned to get along with everyone.

Q35 - CONCLUSION Please use this space to share any other feedback, comments, or
suggestions about your experience at Western Technical College.
Some of the classes were unorganized and I didn't feel that I learned as much as I could have. There are a couple
classes that I don't think we should have had to take because they didn't really fit and I didn't learn anything in
that class. I liked that we got to go on lots of field trips it made learning more interesting and fun.
Overall I enjoyed my time here
It was an overall interesting course that I think gave me a good base to further my education off of in the future.
I enjoyed the entire experience that I had at Western. I will be recommending this program to others that may be
looking for schools with a good agribusiness degree program.
Overall I learned a lot from this program. I liked the hands on the best about this program. This education has
helped me get to where I am today with my job.
Really enjoyed this course and learned a lot. I also really liked the applicator class that XXXXX taught. In that class
we got our applicator license and that helped me get a job.
Overall it was a great experience and I learned a lot more about the industry. It was a great time and helpful for
the future.
I really learned a great deal from Western, and it helped me with my connection to Accelerated Genetics
