Fire Protection Technician Spring 2017 Student SLO Report Spring 2017 - Fire Protection Technician July 28th 2017, 7:23 am MDT Q3 - What did you like about this program? This is the field that I want to go in and this program helped me gain the knowledge to help me exceed in the field. Building relationships with classmates and instructors I liked the hands on training that was given. I also enjoyed having chances to test my knowledge in scenarios given to us. I enjoyed the hands on portion of this program. I liked the portions that were hands on. Q4 - What would you change about this program? I would like to see more hands on training and less power points. A lot more hands-on opportunities. More of a chance to experience fire I would like to have more opportunity to do hands on work. I would change to have more hands on material, some concepts were hard to learn without actually being able to do it. I would do less in classroom and more hands on. I would add more teachers to the program so that it is not just Mr. XXXXX for every class. It gets old having the same teacher for 2 years. I also didn't think Mr. XXXXX did a very good job teaching some subjects. Q33 - CONCLUSION Please use this space to share any other feedback, comments, or suggestions about your experience at Western Technical College. There really needs to be more hands on training in this course. Was a very interesting experience and I am ready to move on to the professional world I enjoyed the college overall. I dislike that my credits didn't transfer from another college that I went to. I believe the reasons for not accepting my credits were not sufficient enough. I enjoyed most of my classes here at Western. Everyone was really friendly around campus and very helpful, it was a fun campus. Something that was frustrating about the program would be the inconsistency. The program was made to stimulate professionalism points and what it is like to be in a department but things changed a lot. Please find more teachers for this program. I really feel I am now at a disadvantage in the hiring world because Mr. XXXXX has been my teacher. So many departments agree that he is not a thorough teacher.
