We are also continuing to encourage electronic use instead of paper use. In various classes, student do design projects relating to sustainability and conduct their own research in doing so. Some posters will be on view at our campus during Professional Development relating to sustainability. To determine the use of this outcome, at the end of each student’s time in the program we evaluate the Graphic Design Portfolios that students create to determine if this objective is met. We also meet with all student during their second term in the Graphic Design Program to evaluate if they are developing these skills appropriately. All of our Graphic Design graduates are able to demonstrate proficiency in the use of design software, tools and technology. Q25 - Provide any comments you have about teaching this program outcome. During the time students take to complete our program, they are continuously designing projects using computer technology. We teach classes during a students first year that focus on individual computer programs used in the Graphic Design Field on computers that are similar to the ones they will most likely use in industry. During students second year they use those computer skills in various combinations to design successful projects. To determine the use of this outcome, at the end of each student’s time in the program we evaluate the Graphic Design Portfolios that students create to determine if this objective is met. We also meet with all students during their Graphic Design second term to determine if they are developing these skills appropriately. Q35 - Consider this class of graduating students, what was most challenging for the faculty in your program? Finding appropriate space during office hours so that we are not isolated or to far removed from students is presently being problem solved. Some faculty members have been creative by using the Coleman lobby area to meet with students. By doing this it works well because the faculty member is reaching out to students in an environment that they often occupy. Q36 - Please use this space to share any other feedback, comments, or suggestions about your experience teaching in this program this past trimester. Most likely we will all be thankful when the construction is over within our area.
