There could more hands on training but for the most part it was great. Everything that a student needs to know, they get from these intructors. Provided me with all the nessiary skills to be successful in the fire service. I liked that the program offered us with not only book skills but we were also given the opportunity to experience and practice physical ff skills. I think most of the instructors are very knowledgeable in this area of study. I learned a lot and had great instructors I really liked all of the hands on experience. Gordy and dennis myers are awesome instructors. Everyone in the sparta campus should have a backround with fire police and ems The hands on experience as well as the course instructors. They were very knowledgeable as they have many years in the fire service I liked the amount of hands on activities we were able to do. I thought Instructors Gordon Billings, Dennis Meyers, and Ted Harris had a lot of knowledge about the subject matter and were able to transfer that knowledge to us. 0 Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes Monday, September 19, 2011 Feedback Western Wisconsin Technical College Try to get more hands on with the second year curriculum. For this type of work I feel as though the mix of class and hands on we had in the first year really helped. Have it so the state certifications are able to be acquired every time instead of having us go elsewhere to get the state certification The program needs newer equipment. We use antique fire truck, turn out gear and SCBA More hands on learning. For our pupmer operator class i was unable to use the truck to get my four hours in, i even went and got my CDL but still could not do it. It was a waste of time and now i need to find somewhere else to get 4 hours of driving time to get certified. I think this year the whole fire program has gone down the drain. when someone that actually had fire backround was in charge of this place like Gordy Billings, it ran very well. To make this program better it should go back the way it was Before all of these big changes I wouldn't change anything. Now? I would change everything!! Things have gone down hill since Gordy Billings was booted out of his spot. Things ran smoothly when he was in charge. I think that the whole driver operator class was unorganized. I feel my money for that class was a waste. We were not given the opportunity to drive the truck for our 4 hours on the truck. Also, for driver operator, I feel my money for that class was a waste. I was not able to drive my 4 hours of recommended because of the changes that certain people made. I am now not able to get certified in driver/pumper operator I feel that the program has not been running as smoothly since Gordon Billings has been replaced as program head. It is harder for students to get answers to questions. In particular with our Driver/Operator course we were told we would be able to complete required driving hours, without these hours students will not be able to get certified. We all have our CDL permits and instructors are willing to drive with us, but the program head that replaced Gordon Billings will not work with us to let the instructors drive with us. I feel this class is a total waste because I am now not able to be certified. 0 Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes 0 Im able to use the NFPA 1 code book to look up code references, as well as use a computer and the internet to look up something if i don't know it.
