The instructors are absolutely thorough and helpful. I liked the small class size. I also liked that we basically just had two teachers. It made it seem like we were all working together (classmates and teachers) to make sure everyone was up to pace with the learning material before moving on! I liked the hands on and being able to practice many times befor we went out and did our clinicals. Based on the curriculum for this program I feel that I have achieved the learning outcome and will be able to successfully pass the certification exam How ready the teachers got the students for clinicals. I loved the teachers in the program! They are awesome and so caring. They generally care about each and every student as if they were their own child. I felt so comfortable having to talk to them about any issues I had. They are some of the best teachers I have ever had. The instructors. Both Margy and Julie were extremely knowledgeable in the subject. I really loved the instrutors. They were will to help you out even when you were not successful on the frist attempt on checking out of tasks we needed to do. I loved that we performed skills on each other including phlebotomy. As a student entering the clinical site people were impressed that we already knew how to do that skill so well. I thank Julie for doing that. I liked how the instructors taught us everything we needed to know in getting us ready for clinicals and for entry level MA jobs. I like this program because it is long enough to get competencies done but short enough that students didn't get weary. The instructors were wonderful & I learned so much from them. The hands on experience I loved the knowledge of the teachers. There wasn't anything they taught or told us that wasn't helpful towards our career. 0 Yes Yes Yes Yes Monday, November 18, 2013 Feedback Western Wisconsin Technical College I would change the fast pace. Sometimes I felt like I could have learned materials and certain chapters more if more time could have been spend on them. I wouldn't change anything. nothing The length of the program. Its doable, but very fast paced and its hard to work to make money to pay your bills when all you do is worry about school and all the tests and homework! Page 1 of 4 Outcome Yes No Unk NA Result Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes Use effective communication skills. 15 100.00% 0 0 I would start with injections during the first semester to gain more comfort and practice with the needles. And knowing the drugs/gague's/lengths better. I would change the fact that all of the clinicals are at the end of the year. Maybe if it was required to get some job shadows done in different departments, then students wouldn't be completely terrified to start clinicals. I would change the books. I think the VMO was a waste of time. I understand they want to try and get more hands on on doing stuff. But that book was not very helpful and was a waste of money. The only thing I would change is putting more emphasis on injections, or at least reviewing injections completely and praciticing before we went out to clinicals. Nothing. If I could change one thing it would be the time that we are out at the rural clinics. I definitely learned more within the first couple weeks in La Crosse than I did in the rural setting. There are less patients and less of a variety of cases. I could have gotten more out of the clinics in La Crosse and spend less money on gas. I wouldn't change anything. I would make clinical throughout the experience and not completely smashed in at the end of the program. WE need to focus more on Professional developement and not just learning skills. There were too many racist comments from fellow students and this is not the field to be entering with personal judgements so more focus on diversity and white privelege so that those barriers can be broken. Ear washing should be taught as a competency since that skill is performed a lot in clinicals. Evaluations should be used for personal/professional growth and development NOT as a graded assignment for points since some evaluators never give students 3's! The class time could have been cut down we got the information we needed and had time left over that I felt we could of been done a hour early some days. Nothing I can think of. 0 Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes Monday, November 18, 2013 Feedback Western Wisconsin Technical College I feel at the end of my clinicals I am having a hard time getting a hold of my instructor. I had to email the other to get any sort of reply from the other. Kind of frustrating. I believe I used effective communication skills with my teachers and fellow students. If something was wrong, or I didn't understand, I asked for help. Yes I think I was able to communicat very will when doing clinicals. Instructors should give students more professional feedback before they enter clinicals so that they can improve on personal skills ahead of time. Yes, I believe I have used effective communication skills. I really enjoyed the friendships I have gained in this program. I also really like doing the work of an MA. I feel we get the right mix of patient care and using other skills we have learned. Yes, I believe I am ready to become a Medical Assistant.
