Q3 - What did you like about this program?
High standards and expectations of students. Instructors knowledgeable about material they are teaching.
I feel that this program prepared me well for my fieldwork rotations. I didn't feel that I encountered anything
that I was totally unprepared for, at the same time, I felt that fieldwork offered me enough of a challenge. I also
appreciated that the hours of class were built around a regular work day rather than night and weekend
classes. The instructors held us to professional standards and while it wasn't always appreciated in the
moment, I feel it made me a better clinician.
Always help available when needed.
I was very prepared and it was a lot of fun with the group of girls in my program.
I felt prepared for fieldwork and instructors would take the time during classes to explain things more if
needed. They were timely responding with emails.
I liked my experiences at FW and I liked that this program challenged me to improve in my skills and develop
further clinical judgement.
I liked that there were a lot of opportunities provided to students for community resources. I liked that the
classes were hands on verse just learning from the book.
I liked that the program progressed throughout the semesters and that there was a lot of hands-on
opportunities available for us in the classes.
The fellow students that were in my program.
The students and occasionally teachers were very helpful.
I enjoyed the variety of program courses. I enjoyed the structure to the program and the class sizes.
I felt that this program addressed a wide variety of areas that will help us be prepared to practice as entry level
practitioners.
I liked the group projects and mock treatment sessions.

Q4 - What would you change about this program?
Create a more positive learning environment. Instructors provide more support and guidance when students
having difficulty. Instructors would hold themselves to the same professional standards that they hold students
to. (i.e. grading assignments in a timely manner and not making excuses that they themselves would not
excuse students for). Instructors treat students respectfully and as adults.
The course load is quite heavy during some semesters. I understand that this is necessary to complete all
required coursework on time, however, it is difficult to manage at times, especially with a family, job, life, etc.
As I mentioned the instructors hold high professional standards but sometimes it seems almost inhuman. It
feels as if there is a lack of compassion for students who might be struggling when instructors reference bi-laws
and program codes rather than addressing students as people.

It's very demanding, spreading things a little more evenly would be nice.
Overall this program prepared me well for fieldwork.
I would change instructors' attitudes towards students. It was hard to ask questions sometimes because we
would feel embarrassed by how they would answer us. Also, to take into consideration that we are all adults
and deserve the same respect as everyone else.
At times this program did not fully support the expectations my FWE had of me. I wish the program had
focused more on interventions and progressing treatments as well as practicing these skills.
The instructors attitudes towards students. I feel there were times that their responses should of been more
unbiased.
N/A
Instructor's attitude towards students.
Learn less about evaluations and more high level skills
I would recommend scheduled meetings once a month with the advisor/councilor to ensure constructive
feedback on classroom work and etiquette.
Increase implementation of documentation.

Effective communication was an important and crucial part of my education.

I feel I learned a lot of communication skills through interaction with the instructors. The instructors had high
expectations on professionalism. When emailing back and forth with them, I would try and write to them as if I
was writing to a boss. I feel this helped me with my communication skills.
None.
My documentation skills have improved and professional verbal communication has showed a drastic increase
after going through the program.

Splinting
I wish I would of gotten more time with fabricating different splints rather than just spending 2 weeks on it. I
also never got a chance at Fieldwork to make splints, which was kind of disappointing.
Theories were used minimally. FWE noted learning theories is more of an OT concept and not applicable to

Q33 - CONCLUSION Please use this space to share any other feedback,
comments, or suggestions about your experience at Western Technical College.
I really like how the program was set up. Although the program was very challenging I felt like it prepared me for
fieldwork. The professors did a nice job including the important topics to cover to help with entering fieldwork.
I had an overall good experience at Western. Equality is something that could be worked on with every instructor I
have come in contact with.
I think that this is a really great, well-rounded and put together program. The professors really work hard to make
sure everything is covered and that we are going to be successful in the program.
Instructors appear to pick favorites and make it very obvious when students are not liked. Biased opinions were
noted. Students seemed to be picked on when they were not liked.
Professors did not show respect and equality for all students. Favoritism was shown during grading and there was
not consistency across the school year. Unbiased opinions should have been applied during the school year.
I enjoyed the program. I'm excited to be an entry level COTA. I believe we have gained skills throughout the
program that will make us quality COTA's.
