OVERALL EXPERIENCE
1. What did you like about this program?
Text Response
The instructors were very personable, and the course content was very helpful to clinical and
being ready to take the board exams.
I really enjoyed working with the instructors and the curriculum offered in the program.
I loved my program I chose. I learned everything I needed to start me out in my field and along
the way I met some great, intelligent people.
I liked the clinicals and hands on learning. I thought the instructors were very educated on the
topic
I like the way the program is set up with 2 weeks of class and then 2 weeks of clinical, the
instructors are great, and it is a great learning environment in the classrom and the clinical
locations.
The program as a whole was excellent. I loved the knowledge that I learned and the people that
were able to give me the knowledge.
The instructors are extremely knowledgable and enjoy thought-provoking discussion. I really
like the 2 weeks class, 2 week clinical rotation.
It was challenging and I was pushed to learn things that I didn't think were possible for me to
learn. Mainly, there is such a lot to know, yet our instructors were able to present things in a
wise way to teach us in small bites. We ended up eating a mountain full!
I enjoyed the hands-on experience and demonstration of the equipment/what it was used for.

2. What would you change about this program?
Text Response
Faster paced.
I would recommend that we do more simulation.
I would offer more time to get check-offs done.
The very end of this program had a lot of information in a shorter period of time. Some of the
information I feel could have been a little more spread out.
More exam prep practice- clinical sims
I would start with a respiratory class in the first trimester of the program so that we would not
have such a stressful spring trimester.
The size of the classrooms and the labs was a little tough. We had a good sized class but the
sized hindered us from working as one well.
More faculty for lab days, more simulation mannequins for ACLS prep
Even though I understand there was an improvement from previous years, I think that some
clinicals could be improved. If proctors would be a little bit more engaged, this might not be a
problem. Some of the proctors did not take being a teacher to us students seriously at all.
Sometimes, and it wasn't just me, they wouldn't even acknowledge us students when we came
in for the day. I would expect for us to be treated as least as respectfully as they are instructed
to teach their own patients. Some were excellent, really excellent, but others really just really
not at all attempting to be instructive and showed no interest whatsoever in us. To a lesser
extent this happened at Mayo, but you did get the idea that these proctors were more clued in to
being instructive to us students.
I think I would change the lengths of time spent in clinicals to three weeks at one place and then
class for a few weeks followed by clinical at the other site.

If this question is addressing whether we learned how to apply social skills to our science skills,
I think there could be improvements made. In the hospital I did see so many examples of RTs
speak roughly about difficult patients or those with psych problems. This was inappropriate and
I think the professionalism of how to see a person who is sick might further be explored in future
for this program. The Woman In Bed Ten was an example of a good direction we were given.
Maybe it would be good to be a able to discuss those things together as a class.

I'm completely satisfied with the program, instructors, and curriculum.
I am very glad I chose western for my college. Lynn and Kathy are great teachers and I learned
so much from the both of them. I also made a lot of great friends that have been there for me
through this experience.
Keep this program going.
I appreciate the fact that this program is so well organized and challenging. It is apparent that
the program has a good reputation.
It was a fast paced program. The waiting list was long when I had applied.
