I liked all the hands on. Thats the way I learn so it helped out alot. All the "hands on" experience. I feel like I am well prepared to start a job in surgical tech I really appreciated that the instructors took time to make powerpoints for our studying and that they showed that they were vested in our learning. That each of the instructors have a unique teaching ability. Combined makes for dynamic team I love all of the hand on learning. And being in the OR learning about surgery from people that actually do the job. I feel, students would be able to absorb more if this were a two year program. it feels great to have this under my belt, to help me in my future career I liked how hands on the program is, really made me feel like I was ready to work when graduated I liked that the program was short and fast paced...The instructors refuse to let us fail and clinicals are very important to the success of this program Instructors were very knowledeable and greatly helped me grow and learn as a Tech. I got great clinical, classroom, and individual experiences. 0 Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes Monday, September 19, 2011 Feedback Western Wisconsin Technical College i don't know specifics of the program, heance i am not qualified to give a response Some of the assignments seemed very much unnecessary. I would like if the instructors would come to class more prepared. Throughout our units they would constantly be adding things to our powerpoints when we had already had them printed off. It's just hard when they add on all the information and we are not sure where they should be placed. n/a I would not change much, they use scare tactics in the beginning to get us to come to class, study for tests etc. What they never seem to understand is that we are here by choice, and those of us that will succeed in this intense program will do so without the added pressure of those scare tactics and nagging. even just being told once instead of every day that we should study for the test etc would be fine. This program is very fast paced and stressful in the beginning. There is really no way to change that because it has to be that way in order to get through the material. That is about the only thing for me. Yes I think more time spent on math 0 Yes Demonstrate ability to think critically. very clear! I'm a little shy and reserved, so I'm working on speaking up more and being more assertive. I feel I did achieve in this program - learns lots and I have grown so much Our instructors dedicate a lot of time and energy toward making sure that all students that want to succeed, WILL SUCCEED. yes all areas of comm's are encompassed 0 Yes Transfer social and natural science theories into practical applications. The first 8 weeks of the program were a little intense. I would also suggest having students do more mock surgeries in the lab before beginning clinical scrub cases. I would allow more time for the surgical procedures course Make this program a little longer, it was very intense amount of information in such a short period of time. I would keep it the same length of time. I understand that there is change for the future and that it's all about making money but I personally think the accelerated pace of this course is the right way to go... I have so suggestions on what to change, the clinical times stressed me out and made me lose sleep, but it was worth it for all of the great experience I got. I would change how we are set up at clinical. I wish we could be put with one person verus being thrown in with many different people that expect you do it there way. So I personal took more time trying to figure out there corks then learning more abiout the instruments orthe procedure. 0 Yes Yes Apply mathematical concepts. Feedback Western Wisconsin Technical College You really had to be able to think on your own. You are taught a lot with guidence and teaches you how to be prepared and trouble shoot situations on your own. I absolutely feel like I met this outcome.
