Q3 - What did you like about this program?
I like all of the clinical experience that you receive. It's hard to gain the skills necessary when you just learn it in a
classroom. However I still feel like there is a good balance of class work involved as well. The instructors were
great and took time out of their day whenever I needed help with anything. It was really a life changing program
and I'm very happy with the results.
I liked that we were able to experience both of the hospitals. I liked that it was really hands on.
The hands on in lab activites and the clinical sites. I've meet a lot of surgical techs who have taught me some
great skills. Our program instructors have been great to work with also- they have a passion for this program.
I like how there were powerpoints for each unit. It kept me very organized and a good resource to look back at.
This program has prepared me well for an entry level position as a Surgical Technologist. I feel confident in my
skills and within the surgical setting, because of this program. I make great connections with the surgical staff at
the Gundersen Health System, my instructors and me fellow classmates.
I love the subject matter and studying anatomy and procedures.
I liked that the deadlines for assignments, tests, etc. were very clear. I liked that they utilized the local hospitals
for clinicals so that we didn't have to drive very far. I also thought the professors were great and very
accommodating throughout the program.
I liked that this program granted us a lot of hands on experience which really helped me learn throughout the
duration of this program.
Program was laid out very well and the progression made sense.

Q4 - What would you change about this program?
Well during the first year it is hard to manage sometimes with the amount of tests that come flying at you but I'm
sure it's just wishful thinking to ask for less testing.
More study guides for the program.
Attendance policy-- you need to allow students to have more then one absence-- students have jobs, and families
and medical issues that get in the way.
I would add study guides to each unit.
I felt that the selection of classes are appropriate for this program. I have nothing to change about this program.
It is very hard to work and have enough time to keep up with the program. I am an untraditional student and do
not have the luxury of not working. There is very little understanding for life outside of school.
I didn't like that we had 3 semesters of clinical at one site and one semester at another. I think that they should
balance that out a little more in the future.
I would change some of the assignments that were assigned during this program that I felt didn't really pertain to
what we were learning.
When it comes to studying for written exams study guides would be appreciated.

Q35 - CONCLUSION Please use this space to share any other feedback, comments, or
suggestions about your experience at Western Technical College.
It was a great program- the clinical sites are great to work at. Most of the preceptors I had were great to work
with, some not but you need to learn to develop tough skin; that's what makes you a better surgical tech and a
better person.. Criticism is good sometimes..
I felt it was a good experience and I learned a lot. I would recommend to others.
I have participated in several programs here at Western, and I have loved my experience that I have gotten here
as a student.
My experience at Western Technical College has been beyond amazing. I don't think that I could've asked for
anything more than I received here. All the staff members are super helpful and were awesome with helping me
through my journey of becoming a Surgical Technologist.
