2016 Spring Air Conditioning, Heating & Refrigeration Technology Student SLO Assessment Survey
Air Conditioning Heating Refrigeration Tech SLO Spring 2016 - Air Conditioning, Heating & Refrigeration Tech May 2nd 2016, Q3 - What did you like about this program? The facility did an outstanding job of giving us the basics and tools. I appreciated the hands-on learning and applying that knowledge to real life experiences. Teaching staff are very informative and really know what they are doing. Plenty of different tools of the trade taught everyday. The Teachers were very fun and great people to get to know. My program gave me all the information and knowledge I needed to be successful. The hands on experience and the teachers are great help if you ask outside of class for one-on-one assistance with anything. So many tools available and machines to get the job done. The instructors were very patient with us as students. I really liked the hands on portion of the course. The clubs and the trips that we took as part of the program. What I liked about this program is that it did a very good job of covering the general knowledge needed to enter the HVAC industry. All of the instructors for the program were knowledgeable, helpful, and approachable I really enjoyed the hands-on learning that was provided learning how to create a hvac system from the bottom up everything The instructors actually care about you as a person and will do everything in their power to help you pass if you put in the work. Q4 - What would you change about this program? I do not know if I would change anything about the program. More hands on in commercial operation in the second year of the associate degree program More hands on in the second year. too much computer time which gives me a headache after a couple hours. more hands on in the commercial end of things I'd change the Intro to Installation course to a full semester, what we had wasn't enough time to go through everything, such as in floor heating. We never got to that point. There were times that time constraints became a slight issue for learning new topics and finishing some projects. Possibly that is just part of how things go sometimes due to unforeseen setbacks. Overall it wasn't a huge ordeal. The length of the semester makes it challenging to cover all of the material not much, it was pretty good nothing more hands on, don't start slowly and rush at the end Q6 - As a result of this program: Q6_1 - I have learned effective communication skills.
