1. What did you like about this program?
Text Response
Learning about the various functions of automobiles.
A great experience, learning the new and the upcoming technology of the future automobiles.
The Hands on experience
I really enjoyed all the time that we got to spend in the lab working on actual vehicles. I loved
the facilities and the staff was absolutely fantastic.
I liked that it covered the most important parts and did not waist our time with useless facts.
This program was great. It was fast paced and got me through all the systems of the car
quickly.
The program itself was great. Lots of great learning experiences. Most Instructors were great,
and had a great teaching method.
Very hands on and instructors seemed to know what they were talking about.
I enjoyed learning about how A/C systems work. I gained a lot of knowledge on how the various
systems on vehicles work and have learned on how to work on vehicles more effieciently. I
loved having to use my problem solving skills to diagnose faults on vehicles. I enjoyed actually
getting to work on customers vehicles as it gives you a taste of how the industry will be.
The hands on Learning.
Was very well laid out and good information
It was something I was interested in

2. What would you change about this program?
Text Response
The class hours are INSANE. The 7-8 hours of class a day on top of having a job is too much to
handle some days. The attendance is far to strict when compared to other schools.
It seem we were pushed through the program too fast! What I would change is the time!
It seems that with the change to the trimester program the classes are way to short and they are
struggling to fit all the learning criteria into the class time we are allotted. The first 2 semesters
of the program went a lot smoother than the last 2 semesters. I felt rushed and felt I did not get
as much out of the program as I feel I should have with the amount of money I spent going
through this program.
The length, I feel that the old and the new should be taught to better understand the whole
picture not just the new stuff, its like learning how to run before you can walk.
I might extend the amount of time in the program, which actually has already been done through
the trimester system and adding the summer term. Finishing the program during this transition
has been a challenge.
The length of the days. It was very exhausting to work a job and go to school. I would have
learned more if the days were shorter because I could have studied outside of class.
I would put classes together until they were finished. I wouldn't have them split up amongst
other classes. It was difficult to remember which class materials to bring for each day.
Well, though it wont matter, the fact that this last year felt soo rushed is my biggest complaint:
Each class was cut short to fit every class before the deadline. Our workload DOUBLED
compared to last years, and by doubled I truely mean doubled. Double lab time, 3-4 times a
week. Long days that lasted from 8am to 530pm or even 630pm, and we STILL didnt get to
everything that we should have in that class, because they were cut SHORT to fit into the
trimester system. I honestly feel robbed from the extra eduacation that we all missed from being
rushed through everything we had to do. Even the one thing that I looked forward to since
before I started the program, using the dyno, most of our class got screwed out of because
there was no time to fit everything into the class schedule. All in all, I feel disapointed as to how
this last semester has gone down. None of this is on the instructors though, they all did the best
they could with the time frame they were given. I feel that it was poor planning on the school for
making the decision to go to the trimester system. It affected us students that are stuck on the
semester system more than it should have.
more time. and more on diesel and high performance
I felt that since I was in the last automotive class under the old semester system we got shorted
a little bit on some learning experiences. At times I felt like I was being rushed to get something
done rather than getting to take it a little slower and actually learn in detail some of the classes.
I would also have a appreciated a little more patience from some of the intructors that would
rush us to get something done rather than get to actually learn. Sometimes the instructor would
me feel like I was dumb for not knowing how to do certain complicated tasks right away. It takes
time to learn some of this stuff, it doesn't usually come to you right away.
Needs to get up to date vehicles to train on. Needs to train in light and medium duty diesel
considering its a huge industry out there these days. They fall between the cracks of both diesel
and automotive programs. Maybe offer it as a separate training course for automotive.
More lab time and longer class schedule. Meaning more weeks to the class

Text Response
Shop etiquette is stressed highly in this program and that includes costumer communication
skills.
It was very helpful to learn about the information that needs to be communicated with customers
and other technicians in an automotive shop. It was also great to get help creating a good
resume.
I learned how to talk to others. I made a good cover letter and resume.
We had to communicate with other students and the instructors everyday. I got much practice.

I feel that I could have learned more, but I feel the instructor for Basic Electrical and Advanced
Electrical could have done a better job at helping us learn. Both in the class room and in the lab
was kind of a struggle to get help from him and when he did he side stepped our questions with
more questions before walking away to 'help' other students.

I feel quite uncomfortable working on the A/C systems. Not because of this year, but because of
A/C 1 from last year, that was Instructed by the same person who was the Instructor for Basic
and Advanced Electrical. Same issues, hardly informative, and gave the runaround when asked
questions in the lab. Not alot was learned from his class. Though our instructor for A/C 2 (Andy
Olson) was great and did the best he could with the time he was given to tach us what we
needed to know. I learned more from him than I did from Bob Marconi

35. CONCLUSION - Please use this space to share any other
feedback, comments, or suggestions about your experience
at Western Technical College.
Text Response
it was good
I really enjoyed this program and I am so grateful to have been involved.
It was very hard to make enough money to go to college while going to college. The 8-5 days
left me with no time to study outside of class. I believe that I would have got a much better
education if I had time to read and study outside of school. I learned alot but I missed out on
alot of information because I was working and could not study.
Great experience, but the days were really long and made it difficult to work a job while going to
school.
Financial aid is reduculous on how long it takes to get the money after the school does. The
trimester system is going to take a long time to get up and function properly, and us people that
were stuck in the semester system got screwed in the long run. Shorter classes, larger
workloads, and still not enough time to get to everything we needed to. Honestly, I am pretty
disapointed in how this whole system was run. The first year was great! The second, not so
much. The instructors are great, but the school needs to get its ducks in a row and firgure out
what the hell its doing.
Overall the experience was a good one. I enjoyed learning from most of my instructors
thoughout my time here at Western. I would suggest to a couple of my instructors to have a little
more patience while teaching a student who is trying to learn something new. I also wish when
we would work on a customer vehicle we wouldn't get rushed into finishing the vehicle because
then I feel that rushing though it takes away from some of the learning experience.
The new tri-mester schedule is the dumbest thing I have ever seen.
