Electrical Systems Installation and Maintenance 2017 Student SLO Report Spring 2017 - ESIM - Industrial Electronics Maintenance July 27th 2017, 12:05 pm MDT Q3 - What did you like about this program? It was only 1 year I enjoyed learning about all of the new technology. I learned about electronics. First and foremost the teachers. They play a key role to our success and they surely did their jobs. Classmates. I have made friends for life this year. Each and everyday was a good one and they made learning easy and fun. Training tools. The tools we used are up to date with what we will see in industry and will have helped prepare us for our future jobs in the best way possible. The hands on with wiring and motor control I personally liked my instructor and the way he made us all learn and challenged us. Western has the newest campus around and amazing facilities. my overall experience was fun every day, and I learned everyday. one year program and the instructor is friendy Q4 - What would you change about this program? Nothing I would've liked to learn more about house wiring instead of just electronics. Less tests none Provide students with a better way to be taught fluid power, pumps, gearboxes, etc courses. I feel like I didn't graduate from those classes with the best understanding of what was supposed to be taught. I learned how to work a lot better with somebody. We had people from all walks of life. Different ages, races, and skill sets. It was very interesting getting to know everyone and seeing how everyone learned and communicated. I really liked how we learned math that applied to what we were learning and nothing more. There is a lot of critical thinking required of you in this field. I believe the new troubleshooting software really did a good job of applying those critical thinking skills. Everyday we used new technology from PLCs to scope meters. Western and the IEM program offered a very diverse way of learning and the technology we used to learn with is a big contributor to that. College is definitely different than High school. I was away from my family so I had to rely on myself to wake u each and every morning and make it to class on time. After being in the new building for my first year of college and seeing all the things the college as a whole is doing to sustaining this beautiful Earth and local area of La Crosse, I am going to apply those same strategies to my own life. I have learned so much this year and it has pushed me to continue learning at the associates degree level.
